Happy April!
(I am apologizing in advance… this is a long one!) I want to thank everyone for their patience and support as we move through these uncharted waters and for your tireless efforts at home to help your children reconnect with their classmates... and ME! Today was first Google Meet in which we were able to connect 23/27 students! If your child was not able to connect today, I have posted (and will always post) our agenda in our Classroom so that all students have access to what was discussed. Students are now enrolled in our Google Classroom, I encourage all students to share their login information so that parents have access to this content. I will still be posting on our blog as well if that is an easier place for parents to get information about weekly assignments. *Ask your child to take you on a ‘tour’ of our NEW classroom! Expectations of classwork
*I found this to be helpful resource on Google Classroom. There is a video and PDF version available under the video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Iowi-gmbys Upcoming dates:
Upcoming Curriculum Covered: Math - my hope for April is to complete our Angles/Geometry unit and move into Fractions. Students should be ensuring that their computations skills are being practiced (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division). LA - We will continue writing through:
Science - we are wrapping up our Sky Science Unit and students have their inquiry reports due next Thursday. The art component will be due at the end of April (decided today in GMEET) Social - today we completed a Kahoot! on Ancient Greece. I will be creating a mini quiz on this topic and then would like to flip back to Canadian Democracy to analyze current events and refresh student memories about the responsibilities of each level of government and how this is impacting our current reality. Phys Ed - I have asked students if anyone might be interested in coming up with at home workouts or activities that they can share in our classroom. I have also posted a number of regulation strategies for mental health. Our AMAZING resource team at WPS is also currently gathering resources for a blog that give both parents/students additional support in this area. Fine Arts - The Fine Arts team at Willow Park School along with Studio Artist Mark Vasquez-Mackay are a vital part of our learning community. They are an incredibly talented and caring group of individuals who understand how important the arts are at a time like this to nourish and sustain that creative aspect of our humanity. As a result, they have created a blog for all students and families as a community to visit and contribute too. The blog is called Fill the Well and it is a capacious handbag of artworks, inspirations and activities to fill your soul. We invite you to visit the site regularly. https://willowparkfa.blogspot.com/ Have a wonderful weekend! Stay well! Mrs. MacGowan
